Two killed as ships collide

SEOUL 05 February – Two crew have died and another is missing from the cargo ship 88 Keum Young following a collision with the tug Sunkwang near Jakyakdo, Inchon yesterday.

The 600 gt cargo vessel sank after the collision with the tug, which was towing a sand carrier. All nine crew of the tug are safe, Korea Coast Guard has confirmed. The cargo ship, which was loaded with iron ore, had left Inchon North Port for Ulsan. Search for the missing crew member continues and the Korean Coast Guard is investigating the collision, which is said to have taken place in adverse weather conditions.
